Digital Adoption in action: this is how we accelerate SAP Cloud ERP transformation in government
New ERP, new way of working. But how do you bring everyone on board?
A move to SAP Cloud ERP (ex SAP S/4HANA) involves more than just technology. Processes change, interfaces innovate and ways of working evolve. But without digital adoption, results fail to materialise. People make the difference.
At this Belgian government agency, we supported user adoption of SAP Cloud ERP, with a smart digital learning strategy. Focused. User-friendly. Impactful.
Digital training as accelerator for SAP Cloud ERP adoption
Working with a change partner, we took on the entire digital training component. Our contribution:
- Tailor-made digital training strategy
- SAP Enable Now implementation
- Develop smart, reusable learning materials
- Train core users and end users
- Measure and optimise adoption
We worked on the basis of the ADDIE model, combined with our own ZEN Best Practice methodology: fast-paced, no-nonsense, maximum commitment.
Analysis: learning to understand users
We started by talking to SPOCs and key users. What transpired?
- Some were SAP accustomed, others started from scratch
- Impact varied by entity and role
Our approach? Targeted and differentiated training – from visual simulations to clear user manuals.
Design: recognisable and intuitive
We developed content in the client’s house style, tailored to each entity:
- Landing pages per team
- SAP Enable Now library linked via SharePoint
- Mix of interactive simulations and practical guides
Users found their way quickly, without unnecessary complexity.
Develop: teaching materials with the business
- SAP simulations based on realistic scenarios
- Step-by-step instructions and documentation
- Learning objects tailored to different target groups
Short feedback loops kept us agile.
Implement: learning at the right time
During the rollout, we provided train-the-trainer sessions and well-timed publication of the learning materials. This allowed users to prepare in time and get started efficiently.
Evaluation: insights to make better
Digital adoption doesn’t stop after go live. We analysed behaviour, collected feedback and coordinated with SPOCs. What worked well? What could be improved? Those insights provide a sharper approach to subsequent phases.
Technology alone changes nothing, people do. Implementing SAP Cloud ERP successfully? It is only successful if people are on board, are able and want to be on board. With targeted training, the right timing and recognisable content, we make the difference.
